Transferring Assets
Learn more about what happens when your Montane Life Trust ends.
A Montane Life Trust plays a role in transferring your legacy. When you die, your trust changes from being revocable (meaning the trustee can change the terms etc) to irrevocable.
Your co-trustee or alternate trustee now manage the trust. Their role is to ensure the terms of the trust are realised. Your assets that are not included in the Trust are included in your Montane Will, which your executor administers. Sometimes you choose the same person to be trustee as is executor, but this is not required.
Plans, terms and the value of assets remains private because there is no need for the exposure and documentation required by probate.
The Trust can continue for several years, giving your family and loved ones a managed and controlled access to your assets. It is eventually closed and the assets distributed
according to your wishes.
